Passing of western desert artist Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa

  Revered Western Desert artist Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa, widely known as Mrs Bennett, has died in Central Australia. Nicholas Rothwell reports in the Australian that the Pitjantjatjara artist and healer, who was born at Yumara near Docker River in about 1935, died on Monday. Mrs Bennett had no contact with white people until she was a teenager.
