Bylaws delayed

Damien Ryan

The NT Government has failed to pass new Alice Springs Town Council bylaws in its current session, but Alice Springs Mayor Damien Ryan isn’t concerned, reports ABC News. The bylaws attracted national attention last year after it was claimed the Council intended to take blankets from homeless people. Laws against begging also attracted criticism. The council passed an amended version of the bylaws, but they must be approved by the NT Government in order to take effect.
